The Haryana government has started distributing insurance claims to farmers affected by crop damage. Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana,18,000 farmers in Sirsa district have received a total of Rs 78 crore 19 lakh as compensation.

In 2024, around 82,000 farmers in Sirsa district applied for insurance claims after their crops were damaged due to adverse weather, pests, and diseases. The AgricultureDepartment has now started transferring claim amounts directly to farmer’s bank accounts, bringing relief to many.
Officials have assured that the remaining farmers will receive their insurance claims soon. Deputy Director of Agriculture, Sukhdev Singh Kamboj,stated that some claims were under review due to queries raised by the insurance company regarding crop damage in 15 villages. The department is working on resolving these queries to ensure that all eligible farmers receive their compensation.
The insurance claim distribution is based on crop yield assessments conducted in affected villages. Farmers who had insured cotton, paddy, and millet under the Kharif 2024 season are eligible for compensation. So far, claims have been issued only for cotton crops, while compensation for paddy and millet is still pending.

The Haryana government is closely monitoring the process to ensure all farmers get their due claims. The Agriculture Department has been directed to expedite pending claims and address farmer's complaints regarding delayed payments.
In Rajasthan, farmers have suffered heavy crop losses due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms. The Jaipur District Collector, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, has instructed officials to assess the damage and coordinate with insurance companies for quick relief. Farmers can report crop damage by calling the Kisan Rakshak Helpline, toll-free at 14447, under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
This initiative aims to provide financial relief to affected farmers and help them recover from losses caused by unpredictable weather conditions.
