ICAR-CRIDA and IFFCO collaborated for a Kisan Mela on Drone Technology, empowering farmers with modern agricultural practices in Telangana.
In an effort to empower farmers with modern agricultural practices, the ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (ICAR-CRIDA) and IFFCO joined hands for organizing a Kisan Mela focused on Drone Technology in Agriculture. This event aimed to showcase the potential of drone technology in optimizing agricultural resources, benefiting farmers in Ranga Reddy, Telangana.

ICAR-CRIDA's Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Ranga Reddy collaborated with IFFCO to host a training-cum-demonstration event on March 28, 2024. The event took place at Chandkhan Guda Village in the Manchal Mandal area of Ranga Reddy district. The main goal was to raise awareness among farmers and stakeholders about the numerous applications of drone technology in agriculture, ultimately aiming to improve farmers resources and outcomes.
According to Dr. S Vijaya Kumar, a specialist in Agricultural Engineering at ICAR-KVK, drone technology has emerged as a game-changer in modern agriculture. These flying robots help save time and costs involved in various operations, such as spraying pesticides, while also reducing the quantity of chemicals used, benefiting both farmers and the environment.

Dr. Chandrakanth, a Senior Scientist at ICAR-KVK, emphasized how drone technology revolutionizes agriculture. Drones equipped with aerial imaging capabilities enable precise monitoring of crops, detection of pests, and assessment of fields. This precision contributes to efficient, sustainable farming practices.
G. Sri Krishna, a specialist in Horticulture at ICAR-KVK, highlighted drones potential to enhance productivity and precision in horticultural practices. As technology evolves, drones are expected to play an increasingly crucial role in the future of horticulture, offering growers valuable tools for sustainable crop management.
Dr. D. Sudheer, specializing in Veterinary Science at ICAR-KVK, emphasized drones significance in livestock management. These aerial devices facilitate monitoring, herding, and health assessment of animals, leading to improved efficiency, productivity, and animal welfare.

Representatives from IFFCO, including Chandranna and Sai Krishna, shared insights into IFFCO's Nano products designed to enhance agricultural production and quality. They discussed how these innovative products can significantly increase crop yields and overall farm productivity.
The Kisan Mela provided participants with practical insights into effectively utilizing drones in agriculture through live demonstrations and training sessions. A total of 213 farmers and farm women actively participated in this program, gaining valuable knowledge to enhance their agricultural practices and resource management.
