Haryana empowers farmers with a Rs. 1 lakh subsidy on 45 HP tractors, easing financial burdens and fostering agricultural modernization.
In a move to support the agricultural sector and provide support to small and marginal farmers grappling with challenges, the Haryana government has unveiled a tractor subsidy scheme targeting 45 HP tractors. With the application window open until March 11, 2024, this initiative aims to address the financial constraints faced by farmers and promote modernization in farming practices.
The agricultural sector, a vital component of India's economy, is confronted with escalating costs of essential equipment. To fortify the backbone of the nation, the Haryana government has strategically introduced the tractor subsidy scheme, recognizing the pressing need to empower small and marginal farmers.
Tractors have become indispensable tools for modern farming, but their high costs often present a significant obstacle for smaller agricultural players. The Haryana government's subsidy scheme, offering Rs. 1 lakh in financial assistance, endeavors to bridge the affordability gap, making tractors more accessible to the crucial segment of small and marginal farmers.
The scheme provides financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh exclusively to Scheduled Caste (SC) farmers. To avail of this subsidy, farmers must purchase tractors with a minimum horsepower of 45. This direct reduction in tractor costs is expected to encourage eligible farmers to invest in this essential farming equipment.
To ensure fairness and transparency, the selection of beneficiaries will be conducted through a draw system overseen by the District Level Executive Committee. This demanding approach minimizes potential biases and ensures that the benefits reach the intended recipients.
The application process for the tractor subsidy scheme commenced on February 26, 2024, and will remain open until March 11, 2024. Eligible SC farmers interested in availing themselves of this opportunity can submit their applications online through the official website of the Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department - (www.agriharyana.gov.in).
For inquiries or clarifications, farmers can contact the department's toll-free number 1800-180-2117, or reach out to their respective District Agriculture Department offices.
It is essential to note that the scheme serves specifically SC farmers residing in Haryana. Additionally, applicants must not have availed of any tractor subsidy benefits under any government scheme in the past five years. To ensure proper utilization of the subsidy, beneficiaries are required to retain the purchased tractor for a minimum period of five years.
