Government offers ₹4,000 per acre for paddy cultivation using DSR machines, promoting water conservation and improved crop yield efficiency.
The state government is providing financial assistance of ₹4,000 per acre to farmers engaged in paddy cultivation using the Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) machine. This scheme is part of an initiative to encourage more efficient and water-saving agricultural practices, particularly in light of decreasing groundwater levels.
The scheme is aimed at farmers who use the DSR machine for direct sowing of paddy. The DSR machine allows for the sowing of paddy without the need for plowing, which conserves water and improves crop yield. Under this scheme, farmers who utilize the DSR machine will receive ₹4,000 per acre as financial assistance, which will be directly transferred to their bank accounts.
The DSR machine sows paddy seeds in a precise manner, maintaining an 8 cm distance between lines and 2 cm between seeds. This method ensures that when the paddy crop matures, there is better air circulation, which reduces plant diseases and leads to a higher yield. For one acre, about 8 to 10 kg of seeds and 50 kg of DAP fertilizer are required. The machine makes separate grooves for seeds and fertilizers, planting the seeds about one and a half centimeters into the soil along with the fertilizer, ensuring good plant growth.
The Haryana government offers a 40% subsidy on the purchase of a DSR machine, up to a maximum of ₹40,000. Farmers interested in availing this subsidy must submit an application along with self-attested copies of their Aadhaar card, family identity card, Meri Fasal Mera Byora registration number, PAN card, bank account details, tractor’s RC, and a report from the Patwari regarding land ownership.
Farmers in Haryana who have used the DSR machine for direct sowing of paddy can register for the subsidy on the Meri Fasal Mera Byaura portal. The registration is open until 18 August 2024. Farmers who missed previous registration opportunities can now register to benefit from the scheme. For further assistance and information, farmers can contact their local agriculture department.
