The government has increased its allocation for the Rabi season to Rs. 24,475 crores. This budget is aimed at securing enough fertilizer supply to boost the productivity of agriculture, showing a firm commitment to supporting the farming sector.
DAP is essential for crop growth as it provides 46% phosphorus, which supports early-stage crop development, especially in root formation. Phosphorus helps plants transfer energy efficiently, leading to healthier roots and higher crop yields. Because of its importance, a steady supply of DAP during the Rabi season is vital for farmers.
Although geopolitical factors have recently affected shipping routes, the Department of Fertilizers has taken action to maintain DAP availability from September through November 2024. This ensures farmers have the resources needed for a productive season, despite international challenges.
The government’s proactive steps show its commitment to stable fertilizer access for farmers, helping them focus on growing crops without concern over DAP shortages.
