The Government of Maharashtra is promoting horticulture and agriculture businesses with a new initiative called the Fruit and Grain Festival Subsidy Scheme. This scheme aims to connect producers of seasonal fruits like mangoes, oranges, grapes, and more directly with consumers through special festivals. These festivals focus solely on the sale of fruits and grains. Under this scheme, the government offers a subsidy of up to Rs 1 lakh for setting up stalls at these festivals.

Who Can Benefit?

The scheme provides clear guidelines on who can benefit. Eligible beneficiaries include:

  • Krishi Upaj Mandi Committees
  • Agricultural Cooperative Societies
  • Agricultural Product Distributor Associations
  • Farmer Producer Companies (FPOs)
  • Public Charitable Trusts and Committees registered under the Act 1860

How Much Subsidy is Available?

Financial assistance is provided at Rs 2,000 per stall. The subsidy covers a minimum of 10 stalls and a maximum of 50 stalls per festival. Thus, the maximum subsidy one can receive is Rs 1 lakh for 50 stalls.

Eligibility and Rules

To qualify for the subsidy, there are specific conditions to be met:

  1. The festival must last a minimum of five days.
  2. The subsidy can only be claimed once per financial year.
  3. The Maharashtra Agricultural Marketing Board must be named as a co-sponsor in all promotional materials.
  4. If the Board wishes to set up a stall, it must be provided free of cost.
  5. The Board will not be liable for any legal issues related to the festival.
  6. Organizers must submit a complete proposal to the divisional office before the festival.

Important Considerations

Organizers should remember the following:

  • Only producers are allowed to participate; traders cannot join or sell market-bought produce.
  • A Rs 100 stamp paper guarantee accepting all terms and conditions is required.
  • Fire NOC from the fire department must be obtained for the festival.
