The Uttar Pradesh government has agreed to increase compensation for farmers who are giving their land for the Noida International Airport in Jewar. The new compensation rate will be Rs 4300 per square meter, up from the previous rate of Rs 3100. This means farmers will receive Rs 1200 more per square meter than before.

On this development, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with farmers and announced the increased compensation. He said that the third phase of land acquisition for the airport will now offer Rs 4300 per square meter. In addition, interest will be paid to farmers according to the rules. The Chief Minister also assured that proper arrangements will be made for settlement, employment, and the well-being of all affected farmers and their families.
The CEO of the airport project updated the Chief Minister about the ongoing compensation process. Currently, compensation is pending for some farmers due to issues like succession or inheritance. The Chief Minister instructed the CEO to meet these farmers and prioritize resolving their problems.
The Noida International Airport in Jewar is expected to begin flight services in April 2025. A successful validation flight landed at the airport on December 9th, marking a key milestone. Additionally, the airport will have a 40-acre area dedicated to Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services, catering to aircraft from all over the world.

The establishment of Noida International Airport will bring significant development to the region. The Chief Minister stated that the airport's construction will boost industrial infrastructure, create jobs, and promote manufacturing and exports. The nearby Yamuna Authority area is already seeing industrial growth, and it is expected to become a major center for industrial and service sector activities in the coming years.
So far, 1334 hectares (around 3300 acres) of land have been acquired for the Noida International Airport. This was achieved with the cooperation of farmers, and the Chief Minister praised them for their support.
The airport will be well-connected to the surrounding areas. It will link to the Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail, and an interchange will be created on the Yamuna Expressway to connect it to the Eastern Peripheral Road. The state government has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the rail link, which will connect Noida Airport to Delhi in just 21 minutes. Additionally, the airport is being connected to Ballabhgarh (Haryana) via the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, with construction being carried out by NHAI.
The construction of Noida International Airport began in 2022. The airport, which was cleared for construction in 2017, has already completed its first phase, including two runways. Road connectivity projects are underway, and the airport is expected to be fully operational by April 2025.
This development is set to bring significant changes to the region, offering new job opportunities and boosting both the local and national economy.
