Key Highlights

In a recent initiative to aid farmers affected by natural calamities, the government has distributed compensation to those impacted by hailstorms. A total of Rs 9 lakh was given to 164 farmers from four villages in the Belgahna tehsil of Bilaspur district. The distribution took place during a program held in Konchara, overseen by SDM Yugal Kishore Urvashi and directed by District Collector Avnish Sharan.

Details of Compensation Distribution

The compensation amount was distributed to farmers in the form of cheques, while the remaining payments were made via RTGS directly into the farmer’s bank accounts. Under the compensation scheme, farmers are eligible for Rs 8,500 per hectare if they suffer a loss of 33% or more due to natural disasters.

Additional Government Schemes for Farmers

The Chhattisgarh government operates several other schemes to support farmers:

  1. Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana: - Provides Rs 9,000 per acre as input assistance for crops like maize, kodo, kutki, soybean, tur, and sugarcane. If farmers switch from paddy to other crops or tree plantation, they receive Rs 10,000 per acre for three years.
  2. Kisan Samridhi Yojana: - Offers subsidies for digging tube wells and installing pumps to enhance crop irrigation and productivity.
  3. Scheme for Setting Up Agricultural Machinery Service (CHC) Centres: - Supports small farmers in setting up agricultural machinery service centers, enabling access to modern machinery at low rental costs.
  4. Solar Sujala Scheme: - Provides subsidized solar pumps (2 HP, 3 HP, and 5 HP) to farmers in remote areas. Approximately one lakh farmers have benefited from this scheme.
  5. Aatma Scheme: - Rewards farmers for exceptional agricultural work with state, district, and Panchayat Samiti level awards of Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000, and Rs 10,000, respectively.

These schemes aim to provide financial support and resources to enhance agriculture and agricultural productivity and support farmers in managing the impacts of natural disasters.
