Pests and diseases cause significant financial losses to farmers. To control them, farmers often use chemical pesticides, which lead to environmental pollution and soil degradation. Excessive pesticide use also increases resistance in insects, requiring higher doses, which raises farming costs and affects soil fertility.
To address these problems, the government promotes Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technology, with solar light traps playing a crucial role. These traps help control pests naturally, reducing the dependence on harmful chemicals. This method not only cuts farming costs but also increases farmers' profits.
The Haryana government, through the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, offers a 75% subsidy on solar light traps. Farmers only need to pay 25% of the total cost, making it an affordable and sustainable pest control solution.
Installing a Solar LED Light Trap helps increase crop production while keeping expenses low. Farmers can use this eco-friendly solution to protect their crops and boost their income.
Farmers in Haryana can apply for the subsidy through the 'Meri Fasal Mera Byora' portal. The application process is simple and can be completed at any Common Service Center (CSC).
Eligibility: Farmers from Haryana
Portal: Meri Fasal Mera Byora
Maximum Area: Up to 10 acres (One solar trap per acre)
Mode of Application: Online via CSC centers
A solar light trap operates using energy from a solar panel. It charges during the day and automatically turns on at night. The light attracts insects, which then get trapped in a collection chamber. This method effectively reduces the pest population in fields.
Place the trap 2 feet above the crop height.
Use it during night hours (7 PM - 10 PM) when pests are most active.
