A young farmer from Maharashtra has made headlines by creating a tractor that operates without a driver. This innovative machine, imported with advanced technology from abroad, is changing the way farming is done.
Tractors are crucial for farming, making many tasks easier. Today, modern tractors with advanced designs and technology are available in the market. However, Raju Varokar, a young farmer from Akola district, has gone a step further by developing a driverless tractor that also sows seeds. This remarkable invention has garnered attention across the country, leaving many astonished.
Raju Varokar faced a labour shortage when he needed to sow soybean in his field. To overcome this challenge, he came up with a solution that would allow him to sow crops at a low cost without relying on laborers. This led him to create a driverless tractor, an idea that he diligently pursued until it became a reality.
Raju Varokar's driverless tractor utilizes modern German technology, incorporating GPS-connected software. The tractor operates in auto-pilot mode using auto-pilot sowing technology. This is the first instance in the village where crops have been sown using such a technique, leaving the villagers surprised and impressed.
According to Raju, this technology ensures crops are planted in a straight line, improving efficiency. It increases production, saves time and labour, and reduces costs. The tractor's development cost ranges from 4.5 to 5 lakh rupees. With this technology, productivity has increased by 17.9% and seed germination has improved by 14.1%.
The tractor operates without a driver using Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) technology combined with German engineering. An RTK device is placed in the field and connected to the tractor via GPS. This cost-effective technology is attracting interest from farmers worldwide.
GPS, or Global Positioning System, is a special electronic control system used to determine location and time. It operates through a network of satellites, communication equipment, and receiving devices. GPS technology is widely used in various applications, including smartphones, automobiles, aviation, maritime navigation, and logistics. It helps track vehicles and manage large operations efficiently.
Raju Varokar's innovative driverless tractor is a significant step forward in agricultural technology, promising to make farming more efficient and less labour-intensive.

Raju Varokar's driverless tractor represents a leap in agricultural innovation, combining advanced technology with practical farming needs. By automating tasks traditionally reliant on labour, such as sowing seeds, the tractor not only boosts productivity and reduces costs but also sets a precedent for sustainable farming practices. With its success in Maharashtra, this technology holds promise for revolutionizing agriculture globally, offering a glimpse into a more efficient and automated future for farmers.
