The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) released vehicle retail data for November 23 and the festive season.

In a historic achievement, Auto Retail sales in November 2023 reached new heights. A total of 28.54 lakh vehicles were sold, surpassing the record set in March 2020 when 25.69 lakh vehicles were sold. This remarkable feat occurred during the transition from BS-4 to BS-6 emission norms in the Auto Industry.

The month of November in 2023 recorded an impressive overall growth in retail sales, marking an 18% Year-over-Year (YoY) increase. Among the various vehicle categories, two-wheelers (2W), three-wheelers (3W), and passenger vehicles (PV) experienced robust growth rates of 21%, 23%, and 17% respectively on a YoY basis. However, the commercial vehicle (CV) and tractor (Trac) segments witnessed a decline of -2% and -21%.

Marriage Season Driving Sales

Post the festive season, India is currently in the midst of a marriage season, with approximately 38 lakh weddings expected to take place between November 23 and December 15. Traditionally, this period sees an increase in vehicle sales, particularly in rural India, as families invest in new vehicles for auspicious occasions.

Brand-wise Sales Highlights

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.: Recorded sales of 14,481 tractors in November 2023. This figure represents a decrease in sales compared to the 19,107 units sold in the same month of the previous year, November 2022.

Swaraj: Sales of 11,481 tractors recorded in November 2023. This decreased from the 13,244 units sold in November 2022

International Tractors Limited: Achieved sales of 8,293 tractors, reflecting a decline in sales by 1.07% from the previous year.

TAFE LIMITED: Experienced a 0.09% growth in sales by selling 7,232 tractors.

Escorts Limited: Reported the sale of 6,270 tractors, marking a notable decline of 0.74%.

Eicher: The company sold 4,527 tractors in November 2023, compared to the 5,134 tractors they sold in November 2022.

John Deere: Faced a decrease in sales, with 4,443 tractors sold in November 2023, compared to the 5,401 tractors they sold in November 2022.

CNH INDUSTRIAL: Reported the sale of 2,339 tractors in November 2023, compared to the 2,856 tractors sold in November 2022.

KUBOTA: Sold 1,005 tractors in November 2023, compared to the 1,757 tractors sold in November 2022.

Gromax Agri Equipment Ltd: Recorded sales of 315 tractors in November 2023, compared to the 356 tractors sold in November 2022.

Indo Farm Equipment Ltd.: Reported sales of 227 tractors in November 2023, compared to the 247 tractors they sold in November 2022.

VST TILLERS TRACTORS: Faced a substantial decrease, selling 188 tractors in November 2023, compared to the 492 tractors they sold in November 2022.
