India's retail tractor sales reached 74,013 units in March 2025, with Mahindra leading the market, followed by Swaraj and Sonalika.


Key Highlights

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released the retail tractor sales data for March 2025. A total of 74,013 tractors were sold across India, showing a decline from 78,495 units sold in March 2024.

This data was compiled with help from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and covers 1,378 out of 1,438 Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the country. Note that data from Telangana is not included.

Brand-Wise Sales Overview

Mahindra & Mahindra (Tractor Division)

Mahindra Tractors maintained its market leadership by selling 17,583 units, gaining a 23.76% market share. Though it led the market, the numbers dropped slightly from 17,945 units sold in March 2024.

Mahindra Swaraj Division

The Swaraj Division continued in the second spot with 14,345 units sold and a 19.38% market share. It saw a small dip compared to last year’s 14,487 units.

International Tractors Limited (Sonalika)

Sonalika Tractor ranked third, with 9,262 units sold and a 12.51% share. It saw a decline from 10,354 units and a 13.19% market share last year.

Escorts Kubota Limited

Escorts Kubota showed improvement, selling 7,685 units and capturing a 10.38% market share, up from 9.63% in March 2024.

TAFE Limited (Massey Ferguson)

TAFE sold 7,059 units, dropping from 9,062 units in March 2024. Its market share also fell to 9.54% from 11.54%.

John Deere India

John Deere tractors improved slightly with 5,931 units sold, holding an 8.01% market share, up from 7.16% last year.

Eicher Tractors

Eicher Tractors saw a decline with 4,547 units sold, compared to 5,279 units last year. Market share dropped to 6.14%.

CNH Industrial (New Holland)

CNH sold 3,026 units, down from 3,358 units in March 2024, with a slight decrease in market share to 4.09%.

Kubota Agricultural Machinery

Kubota saw a significant drop, with just 1,118 units sold, down from 1,592 units, resulting in a lower market share of 1.51%.

Other Brands

Other brands contributed 3,457 units, holding a 4.67% share, slightly higher than the 4.12% share last year.

Tractor sales in March 2025 saw a decline of over 4,000 units compared to the same month last year. While Mahindra & Mahindra continues to dominate, companies like Escorts Kubota and John Deere have shown signs of steady growth. On the other hand, TAFE, Eicher, and Kubota experienced notable drops in sales.
