The Diesel Subsidy Scheme provides Bihar farmers with Rs 150 crore in subsidies to offset rising diesel costs for agricultural activities.
The rising prices of petrol and diesel affect everyone, including farmers. Diesel is essential for farming tasks such as running pump sets for irrigation and tractors for fieldwork. To help farmers cope with the increasing diesel costs, the state government has approved a diesel subsidy scheme for the upcoming season.
For the financial year 2024-25, the Agriculture Department has allocated Rs 150 crore for this subsidy scheme. Farmers across the state will benefit from this initiative, allowing them to purchase diesel at reduced prices for their farming needs.
The diesel subsidy scheme specifically targets the Kharif season. Under this scheme, farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs 75 per liter of diesel used for irrigation pump sets. This translates to a subsidy of Rs 750 per acre per irrigation.
The subsidy will cover a variety of crops, including paddy, maize, jute, pulses, oilseeds, seasonal vegetables, and medicinal and aromatic plants.
Here's a breakdown of the subsidy:
Each farmer can receive subsidies for irrigation of up to 8 acres of land.
Farmers need to apply to benefit from the diesel subsidy scheme. The following documents are necessary for the application:
Farmers must ensure that the diesel receipt is computerized or digital and includes the last 10 digits of the registration number. The receipt must also have the farmer's signature or thumb impression.
Farmers in Bihar can apply for the diesel subsidy online. To apply, visit the official website of the Direct Benefit Transfer Agriculture Department, Government of Bihar. For further assistance, farmers can contact the Agriculture Department of their district.
This initiative aims to support farmers by reducing their diesel costs, thereby helping them manage their farming activities more efficiently.
