Understanding the Chief Minister Housing Scheme Rural

The Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme, also known as Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana Gramin, targets low-income families living in villages. The state government will provide plots to landless farmers under this scheme. Recently approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Sainithe scheme will allocate plots ranging from 50 to 100 square yards to landless individuals with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh. Larger villages, or Mahagrams, will receive 50-square-yard plots, while normal villages will get 100-square-yard plots.

Plot Pricing

The government will purchase land from panchayats for distribution to landless poor people. Recently, more than 20,000 poor families received plots, and those who did not were given Rs 1 lakh each. The government values each plot at Rs 1 lakh.

Scheme Amendments

The scope of the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana has been expanded to include newly identified poor families. Chief Minister Nayab Saini announced amendments to the Mukhyamantri Shahri Awas Yojana to address the housing needs of urban families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh. Beneficiaries who received a 30-yard plot now have more time to make payments. Previously, the second installment of Rs 10,000 was due within a month, with the remaining Rs 80,000 payable in six installments. Now, the second installment is due within two months of receiving the provisional allotment letter, and the remaining amount can be paid in monthly installments over three years. The total plot price remains Rs 1 lakh.
