When to Apply

With the monsoon season starting in June, it's the perfect time for farmers to start sowing paddy. The state government is supporting the farmers by providing them with improved and certified seeds with a 50 percent subsidy. Farmers can get these seeds under the Seed Subsidy Scheme.

How Much Subsidy is Available?

Farmers will receive a 50 percent subsidy on the total cost of improved paddy seeds. Specifically, this means a subsidy of 50 percent or up to Rs 2,000 per quintal. If you are registered in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, you can even get a mini kit of seeds for free at government seed warehouses.

Which Varieties are Covered?

The subsidy covers several improved varieties of paddy including PR 121, Pusa Basmati 1509, Pusa Basmati 1637, and Pant 24. Farmers will pay only half the price for these seeds, with the remaining cost covered by the subsidy. The scheme works on a first-come, first-served basis. Other crops like wheat, peas, gram, mustard, and lentils are also included in the subsidy program.
