The state government transfers Rs 31,000 crore to paddy farmers and prepares to distribute Rs 800 per quintal bonus soon.
The state government has made record-breaking paddy purchases at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) this season. Additionally, farmers will receive a bonus soon. The government has already transferred Rs 31,000 crore to farmers bank accounts and is preparing to send the bonus amount shortly.

This season, the state government purchased paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal. The central government had fixed the MSP for paddy at Rs 2,300 per quintal for 2024-25. As a result, farmers will receive an additional Rs 800 per quintal as a bonus from the state government. The bonus amount is expected to be transferred soon.
The government has procured more paddy than last year, marking a 4% increase. Around 27 lakh farmers benefited from the MSP, with Rs 31,000 crore directly deposited into their accounts. The government is now working on distributing the bonus, which may be credited to farmer’s accounts this week.

According to the Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department, over 149 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have been purchased in the 2024-25 marketing season. This is the highest-ever purchase in the state's history. Last year, 144.92 lakh metric tonnes were procured, making this year’s purchase about 4% higher.
The government began purchasing paddy at MSP on November 14, 2024, and the process lasted until January 31, 2025. During this period, paddy was procured from about 25,49,592 farmers. A total of 149.25 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was bought, making it the largest procurement in the state's history. The initial target was to procure 160 lakh metric tonnes.

Mahasamund district recorded the highest paddy procurement, with 11.04 lakh metric tonnes purchased from farmers. Bemetara followed with 9.38 lakh metric tonnes, and Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara recorded 8.56 lakh metric tonnes. Out of the total paddy procured, 103 lakh metric tonnes have already been sent for custom milling. Additionally, 4,102 rice millers have registered for the process.
Regarding the bonus payment, an official stated that Rs 31,089 crore has already been transferred to farmers for paddy purchases. The MSP amount has been paid, and now the Rs 800 per quintal bonus will be credited soon. The Chief Minister has announced that bonus distribution will begin in February.
