Expanding Drone Use in Agriculture

The use of drones in agriculture is growing due to central and state government efforts to promote precision farming. Drones are helping farmers save time, reduce costs, and improve efficiency in spraying pesticides and fertilizers. These drones also help with crop monitoring, disease detection, and production evaluation. Farmers can spray crops more accurately without any wastage, making it a healthier option compared to traditional methods.

The central government also provides subsidies to farmers and groups for buying drones, encouraging large-scale adoption of drone technology. Training programs for drone pilots have been set up at Krishi Vigyan Kendras and other institutions to ensure proper and safe usage.

Boosting Innovation and Employment

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the new policy aims to make the state a leading center for drone manufacturing and technology. This will promote innovation, attract investment, and create more jobs.

Under the policy, a drone university and drone data repository will be established. The repository will allow various departments to share data and collaborate more effectively, promoting agricultural efficiency. Inspired by the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti initiative, a centralized platform for drone data and imagery will also be developed.

Easier Access to Agricultural Data

The drone data repository will offer farmers access to various data on crops, soil, water, and weather, making farming easier and more efficient. With government incentives, farmers can adopt drone technology for better crop production and lower costs. Drones are already being used to manage crops, spray pesticides, and conduct land surveys quickly and effectively.

Launch of New Drone and Software

At the Krishi Darshan Expo 2025, a major agricultural exhibition held from February 15 to 17 at the Northern Region Agricultural Machinery Training and Testing Institute (TTC Center), farmers learned about the latest drone and solar technologies. Gopalan Aerospace launched its Akki 610 Agri Drone (AKKI 610), while Skylark Drones introduced DIAMO-AG, India’s first software platform for agricultural drone management and operation.

Farmers were also trained on using drones for spraying crops and saw live demonstrations of new agricultural innovations.

This policy and related initiatives aim to make Madhya Pradesh a leader in drone technology and improve the agricultural sector with modern solutions.
