Tractor sales rise by 25.8% in December 2024, with Mahindra & Mahindra dominating the Indian market.

Key Highlights

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released the retail tractor sales data for December 2024, showcasing a significant year-on-year increase in sales. A total of 99,292 tractors were sold in December 2024, compared to 78,944 units in December 2023. This impressive growth of nearly 25.8% highlights the steady demand for tractors in India.

Brand-Specific Insights

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (Tractor Division)

Mahindra & Mahindra continued to dominate the market with sales of 24,289 units, capturing a 24.46% market share in December 2024. This marks a significant increase from the 18,586 units sold in December 2023, when their market share was 23.54%.

Swaraj Division (Mahindra & Mahindra)

The Swaraj division, another strong performer under Mahindra group, sold 18,226 tractors in December 2024, achieving a 18.36% market share, up slightly from their 14,384 units sold in December 2023.

International Tractors Limited (Sonalika)

International Tractors Limited, the maker of Sonalika tractors, sold 12,766 units, holding a 12.86% market share. However, this is a drop from the 14.38% share they held in December 2023, despite a rise in unit sales from 11,350 units.

TAFE Limited (Massey Ferguson)

TAFE Limited saw a strong performance with 11,555 units sold in December 2024, capturing an 11.64% market share, up from their 8,059 units and a 10.21% share in December 2023.

Escorts Kubota Limited

Escorts Kubota sold 9,252 tractors, holding a 9.32% market share. While their sales volume increased from 8,160 units in December 2023, their market share declined from 10.34%.

Eicher Tractors

Eicher Tractors sold 6,971 units in December 2024, securing a 7.02% market share, slightly lower than their 7.15% share in December 2023, when they sold 5,646 units.

John Deere India Pvt Ltd

John Deere India recorded sales of 6,351 units, capturing a 6.40% market share, compared to 5,229 units sold in December 2023, when they held a 6.62% share.

CNH Industrial (India) Pvt Ltd

The manufacturer of New Holland tractors, CNH Industrial, achieved sales of 4,054 units in December 2024, holding a 4.08% market share, slightly down from their 4.25% share in December 2023 with sales of 3,358 units.

Kubota Agricultural Machinery India Pvt. Ltd.

Kubota Agricultural Machinery India recorded sales of 1,488 units, capturing a 1.50% market share in December 2024, slightly lower than the 1.93% share they held in December 2023 with 1,523 units sold.

Other Brands

Other brands collectively sold 4,340 units, holding a 4.37% market share, a notable increase from their 2,649 units and a 3.36% share in December 2023.
