Govt Increases MSP for Rabi Crops 2025-26: Mustard and Rapeseed Get the Highest Boost

In a significant move, the Indian government has approved an increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Rabi crops for the 2025-26 marketing season. This decision aims to ensure better returns for farmers and encourage crop diversification.

Highest MSP Hike for Mustard and Rapeseed

The highest MSP increase is for rapeseed and mustard, which has been raised by ₹300 per quintal. The new MSP for these crops is ₹5,950 per quintal. This hike is expected to benefit mustard farmers across the country by offering them better compensation for their produce.

Other Crops Also See MSP Increase

Other important crops also received MSP boosts:

• Lentils (Masur): Increased by ₹275 per quintal, new MSP is ₹6,700 per quintal.
• Gram (Chana): Increased by ₹210 per quintal, new MSP is ₹5,650 per quintal.
• Wheat: Increased by ₹150 per quintal, new MSP is ₹2,425 per quintal.
• Safflower: Increased by ₹140 per quintal, new MSP is ₹5,940 per quintal.
• Barley: Increased by ₹130 per quintal, new MSP is ₹1,980 per quintal.

Government’s Focus on Fair Compensation

The increase in MSP ensures that farmers receive at least 1.5 times the cost of production, fulfilling the government’s promise made in the Union Budget of 2018-19. It also takes into account family labor and other farming expenses, ensuring that farmers are fairly compensated for their hard work.
