Government to Distribute 4,000 Tractors to Farmers Under New Scheme

The Chief Minister Tractor Distribution Scheme provides farmers with subsidized tractors and equipment, enhancing agricultural productivity and support.

Key Highlights

The state government has launched a major initiative to support farmers by distributing 4,000 tractors and over 1,000 pieces of agricultural equipment. This effort is part of the Chief Minister Tractor Distribution Scheme, also known as PM Kisan Tractor Yojana 2024 or Krishi Yantra Anudan Yojana. The government plans to invest Rs 150 crore in this program to help boost agricultural productivity.

Key Benefits of the Scheme

Farmers participating in the Chief Minister Tractor Distribution Scheme will receive up to 80 percent subsidy on the tractors and equipment. Specifically, the Agriculture Department will distribute 2,450 large tractors and 1,550 small tractorsTractors with 34 to 40 horsepower will be provided. Additionally, farmers will get two types of agricultural equipment with their tractors.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scheme, farmers must own at least 10 acres of land. Priority will be given to those who possess a tractor or LMV (light motor vehicle) driving license. Beneficiary groups will also be considered.

Application Process

Farmers from Jharkhand can apply for this scheme, which is spearheaded by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Applications can be submitted through the Land Conservation Office. This scheme is open to farmer groups, SHGs, water panchayats, watershed committees, PACS, and other agricultural organizations with valid licenses to operate tractors.

Distribution and Monitoring

The Agriculture Department has instructed to withdraw funds for the tractors and deposit them into the PL account before the end of the financial year. These funds will be managed by the Jharkhand Agriculture Machinery Tools Training Center (JAMTTC), which will oversee the distribution and expenses related to the scheme. JAMTTC also handles testing and licensing of agricultural equipment.
