Expressing the government's vision for India's development by 2047, Munda emphasized the pivotal role of agriculture. He announced a mission with an investment of Rs 11,000 crore to reduce edible oil imports, aiming for self-sufficiency in sesame production. Munda urged for a collective vision, stating, "When we work with a vision, we surely achieve success."

IARI as a Hub for Agricultural Development

The minister expressed confidence that IARI, Assam, would emerge as a prominent center for agricultural development in the Northeast. Noting the institute's success, he remarked that postgraduate courses initiated in 2015-16 have produced experts and entrepreneurs contributing significantly to the agro sector.

Leveraging Natural Diversity for Development

Minister of State Kailash Choudhary encouraged scientists to leverage the natural diversity of the Northeast region. He stressed the development of nature-centric technologies and advocated for organic and natural farming. Choudhary urged for a focus on research related to pulses and oilseeds to reduce the country's reliance on imports, emphasizing the importance of linking agricultural research with entrepreneurship.

Addressing Regional Potential and Progress

Dr. Himansu Pathak, Secretary DARE, and DG ICAR, addressed the gathering virtually, highlighting the vast potential for research and development in North-East India. He assured continued support from ICAR to ensure the institute's progress and congratulated all involved in achieving this significant milestone in ICAR's history.
